Back from flying on a cloud

Oh My Goodness!!!!!
I had an amazing time at the spa and highly recommend it! I spent the afternoon in a fluffy white dressing gown and slippers - dipping in and out of the pool, sauna and steam room before having a back neck and shoulder massage and a gorgeous facial. I literally floated out of there!

The small people stayed at Steve's mum and dad's last night so Steve picked me up from the spa and we went out for dinner to Zizzi's which was delicious - the Italian bread board was very tasty!

Which leads me to this morning - a 9.30am lay in!!!! What a lovely weekend! Later today we are going round Steve's mum and dad's for dinner and to snuggle the small people, I have missed my cuddles

I'm pottering a little this morning so in between bits and bobs here are the take-outs from the last two weeks :)

Friday 11th - Some catching up in Rachel B's World
Saturday 12th - I brought a new spotty milk jug and two new stripey mugs for my shelves
Sunday 13th - Nanna and Grandad brought Adam a Gordon train, Oh the excitement - Bless him!
Monday 14th - Valentines
Tuesday 15th - I went on a new eyelash extension course, Lush!
Wednesday 16th - Knitted Progress

Friday 18th - Socks! Adam's new thing is to wear two pairs of socks at the same time - Literally, one on top of the other. He does it himself and is very proud of the fact that there are four socks, he counts them!
Saturday 19th - I brought Emily some adorable Jammies, Can't wait to put her in them!
Sunday 20th - Dinner at P & J's with a few tipples (not on the heels!)
Monday 21st - Crop with the gals!
Tuesday 22nd - I brought the eyelash extension kit, swoon!
Wednesday 23rd - Adam got a new football kit.

I was going to add my photo of the week too but blogger seems to be having another technical meltdown, so I will have to post that later.

Emmie-Lou

The past few weeks I have been working on a knitted project as well as doing some crocheting, I wanted to make a doll with removable clothes that can be swapped about and wanted it to be something that Emily would (hopefully) treasure for a long time. I have named this doll Emmie-Lou for the time being until Emily is old enough to re-name her: Emmie as that is what Adam calls Emily and Lou as Emily's middle name is Louise.

Would you like to meet her?

I made her a little hat like Emily's:

She has a fabric skirt and cute little shoes:

An Autumn poncho:

A bright red hoodie:

and another cardie/skirt combo:

I just hope Emily enjoys playing with Emmie-Lou when she is older......

My mission this week........

As well as spending some well earned family time at home and relaxing at my spa day, my mission for this week is to simply... CATCH UP! I managed some official scrapping at the crop on Monday (no really, I did!) and now I have a goal; to catch up on reading blogs and do some actual posting myself!

I have already pasted the first milestone and my reader no longer says I can't be bothered to count over a thousand, it now states 807! I'm not expecting to clear them all this week but I am going to focus on making a big dent in that number and I'm going to devote at least 30 minutes a day to reading them, I think it's only fair!

So Monday........ the monthly crop was at our house this time and we indulged in our special vanilla latte's, listened to music, caught up in general and scrapped our hearts out! The little one's were very good (as always) so progress was made. I decided to work on my House album..... remember that one? I shared it like AGES ago, promising good intentions of sharing more soon - yeah, sorry about that! Well here it is:

These two pages I did a little while ago:

...and these pages I completed on Monday at the crop:

I also started on the bathroom pages but will share them when they are all together. Right I'm off to catch up on some more blogs....

Remember me?

.....My Name is Rachel and I used to blog at least four times a week!

I can now breathe out slowly and relax - for at least a week anyway! It's half term and I am truly embracing it...... I feel calmer already and I'm looking forward to a week of family and relaxation as Steve also has the week off, which is so unbelievably rare for us both to be off at the same time! I thought I would take some time out to share some of my adventures.....

We do not usually do presents for valentines but my loveliest brought me a pamper day at Bannatyne's spa, I have been booked in for a facial and a back neck and shoulder massage as well as using the spa facilities, I am REALLY looking forward to it. It is on Friday and Steve is going to look after the kiddies while I go and relax......I will let you know how I get on once I returned from floating in the air!

...............................

I was given a blog award by the lovely xnomads but have only just got round to thanking her properly, Xnomads blog and photography skills are fab, it's worth checking out.

OK, now for the award etiquette:

The award was originally designed to be given to blogs that are not too well known in blogland, the same rules apply that you need to post the image confirming that you have received the award, choose 3-5 blogs to give the award to and then inform the person/leave a link on their blog.

Now, I'm going to give this award to 6 blogs as I couldn't decide!

There is a mix of well known blogs and not-so-well known blogs in blogland.....enjoy them all, they are great.

............................

The next crop is here at our house on Monday.....SO I thought I had better hurry up and share my pages from the last crop on the 31st Jan!

I completed January for Document 2011....which reminds me I still need to buy a new album!
So many to-dos, so little time!

.............
Thank you all so much for your kind comments about how behind I am with my blogging and blog reading - it means a lot xoxoxox

Ooh before I leave, Lizzie asked about the PP used in the background for my header so I thought more people may want to know. It is by Bella BLVD, the Lovey Dovey collection - #163: Love is in the air.

Busy, busy, busy!

2011 is turning into a very busy year already, which has really thrown me as I though the beginning of the year was supposed to be slow going?

Emily is teething at the moment and has had red cheeks and a temperature for a couple of days now, it's the front two peggies so she is suffering - the poor lamb. She can't even be bothered to play and is laying down just watching Adam throwing in the occasional smile now and again!

Adam has dropped his naps in the day - hence how busy I've been lately. It's amazing at the amount I used to do in those two hours: Cleaning, washing, scrapping, knitting, blogging, resting, drink coffee! You name it! So I am so very behind with a lot of things but never mind - I'm still not stressing! I'm just so very embarrassed at the amount of blogs I have to read, my blog reader currently stands at 1000+ posts to read! Oh the shame! I will get there eventually.....along with the housework and scrapping etc.

Let's have a bit of 365 to make it all better:

A double dose!

Friday 28th January - Adam and his big boy cup
Saturday 29th  - Adam and Emily chilling on the sofa
Sunday 30th - Adam sweeping!
Monday 31st - Crop time!
Tuesday 1st - New blog header for February
Wednesday 2nd - I finished making an Angry bird!
Thursday 3rd - My new crop case arrived!

Friday 4th - We watched Avatar sent to us from Lovefilm UK
Saturday 5th - Adam had a train morning!
Sunday 6th - I finished Brian!
Monday 7th - I fell over and ripped my new jeans, as well as hurting my back, hip, leg and knee! What a day!
Tuesday 8th - Tesco delivery arrived
Wednesday 9th - Emily's teeth are coming through again
Thursday 10th - I enjoyed a healthy option

As you can see I have manged to keep up with the crochet and I have finished an angry bird and Brian! I will post more pics later along with the current project............
Have a great evening

MmmmmMillionaire's chocolate tart recipe

Before I catch up on the weekly going-ons I thought it was only right to blog the yummy cake/pie version of millionaires shortbread. I found this recipe on the BBC Goodfood website, its an easy and extremely yummy dessert from Sarah Cook.....have fun!

Serves 10

Preparation and cooking times
Prep time: 30 mins, Cook time: 55 mins plus chilling

Ingredients
375g pack dessert shortcrust pastry
1 tsp vanilla paste or extract
flour , for dusting
250g/9oz caramel (we used Carnation caramel from a can)
100g 70% plain chocolate , broken into pieces
100g white chocolate , broken into pieces
6 tbsp melted butter
2 eggs , plus 3 egg yolks
4 tbsp golden caster sugar
icing sugar and single cream, to serve (optional)

METHOD:
Break the pastry into chunks and drop into a food processor. Drizzle over the vanilla paste and pulse until the vanilla is speckled through the pastry (the extract should be completely absorbed). Tip out onto a floured surface, bring together into a ball, then roll out to line a 23cm tart tin (leave any overhanging pastry as you will trim this away when the tart is baked). Chill for 30 mins.
Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Line the pastry with greaseproof paper. Fill with baking beans, bake blind for 15-20 mins, then remove the paper and beans and bake for 5-10 mins more until pale golden. Carefully spread caramel over the base and set aside while you make the filling. Lower oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4.
Melt the chocolates in a bowl over a pan of barely simmering water, then stir in the melted butter. Whisk the eggs, yolks and sugar together with an electric whisk in a large mixing bowl for 10 mins, until pale and thick enough to leave a trail when the beaters are lifted up. Fold in the melted chocolate with a large metal spoon, then scrape into the tin.
Bake for 20-25 mins - the surface should be set and puffed but still with a slight wobble. Cool, then chill for at least 3 hrs or overnight, before dusting with icing sugar and serving.
