Starting a list!

I am desperately trying to get semi-organised at the moment, as there is normally SO MUCH to do in December (which includes JYC!) I like to have my Christmas cards written before the 1st but I just keep staring at the pile of Christmas cards and thinking 'I must do that'. At least I have managed to get them out of the drawer, hopefully by posting this picture it will make me get on and do it!

This is what was in the oven yesterday:

It is my very first Christmas cake and I was inspired to try after reading Cheryl's post, it was Cheryl's first Christmas cake too using a recipe from her mum's cookbook. I used the recipe to make this so thank you to Cheryl and to Cheryl's mum.

This was my handsome assistant during the process (he is cleaning his spoons!)

Right I'm off to bed, just wanted to leave you with a sneaky bit of JYC prep and a close up of a couple of cards that I made yesterday:

Night all
xx

I like to get my Christmas cards done early, too. I have mine on the desk where I can see them and I finished updating my address list this past week. I've put it on my calendar to complete the cards (with a personal note to each recipient) next Tuesday. (hoping nothing goes amiss in my schedule!) That cake looks yummy and what a totally cute assistant!!

Thanks Rachel your cake looks scrummy. I can start adding the brandy to mine on Friday then it is the icing, marzipan etc. Would love to see your finished cake x

Well done on the Christmas Cake! And good luck with getting your list sorted and cards written. I'm about halfway through writing my cards but still got to sort presents!

You certainly do have a fine looking assistant! That cake looks so good that I can almost smell it :) I've been staring at my cards too - I've got a few I want to put letters into and I just can't seem to get started at all

Love those reindeer again this year :) Feeling the same as you, I like to be prepared for Christmas but so much going on at uni I don't even have a 'to do' list yet, let alone anything ticked off!

He makes for a gorgeous helper!
I am impressed with the cake - I've not made one before either ... I assume Jacky means to feed the cake with brandy?! ;-)

Sorry to hear you've been ill - I hadn't realised, having had my own lurgy and being away from blogworld for a while! I'm glad you're better now xx

I intended to make my Christmas cards again this year but so far I've managed - um - about 5?! I have written a couple though (as they needed to be sent overseas and I was trying to be organised!)
